Step-by-step guide for installing the Lumicast player on MacOS

This article explains how to run the player on MacOS.

Install the player

Download the player

On the Lumicast downloads page, look for the MacOS section.

You will see two different versions: Intel and Apple Sillicon.

If you see an Apple chip here, you should use the Apple Sillicon download. If you see Intel here, you should use the Intel download.

Use the downloaded player

The download file is now in your downloads folder. The file is called β€œLumicast Player_x.x.x_x.dmg”. Double click the file and drag the Lumicast player to Applications.

You may see the following screen:

Choose Open.

Then you can start the player by opening the application:

⌘ + SPACE then look for Lumicast Player

Keep your display always on

  1. Open System Preferences:
      • Click on the Apple menu (ο£Ώ) in the top left corner of your screen.
      • Select System Preferences from the drop-down menu.
  1. Access Energy Saver Settings:
      • Click on Energy Saver for older macOS versions or Battery (or Energy Saver) for macOS Catalina or later.
  1. Adjust Sleep Settings:
      • If you're on a MacBook, you'll see two tabs: Battery and Power Adapter. Select Power Adapter to adjust the settings for when your Mac is plugged in.
      • Drag the Turn display off after slider to Never.
  1. Prevent Computer from Sleeping Automatically:
      • Ensure that the Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off option is checked (this option might not be available on all Macs).
  1. Disable Screen Saver (Optional):
      • Go back to System Preferences and select Desktop & Screen Saver.
      • Click on the Screen Saver tab and set Start after to Never.
